Jaguar CarsJaguar (car manufacturer)WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NCCORP, as both their website and logo consistently use simply "Jaguar". The UK branch also uses simply "Jaguar", with no mention of "Jaguar Cars", as does DMOZ. Per WP:NCCORP, "whenever possible, common usage is preferred (such as The Hartford for The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. and DuPont for the E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company)". The rationale for the previous move to Jaguar Cars looks uncompelling now. Brandmeistertalk 19:39, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Simple grammatical change from "S. S. Motor Cars" to "S.S. Motor Cars." The extra space is incorrect style. Hughesresearch (talk) 23:29, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Grammar or that editor's preferred style? It is not "grammar". Here is the correct style. Will amend article. Eddaido (talk) 01:02, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Walmsley a founder?[edit]

When the company was formed Walmsley may have been a temporary shareholder while his share was sold to the public. He did not found the company, Lyons did that to allow Walmsley to exit and go do other things. Walmsley certainly was a founder of what became the Jaguar business but this note under discussion is in the infobox company. Does that make sense? Eddaido (talk) 00:49, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

There were three assumptions involved here. 1) That the first sentence of the History section is correct. 2) That because the Swallow Sidecar Company was founded in 1922 and was years later renamed to Jaguar Cars, that Jaguar inherited the SSC foundation date. 3) That if Jaguar inherited the foundation date, then it also inherited the founders. -- de Facto (talk). 08:38, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
OK, all that's mistaken is assumption 2. S S Cars was a brand new company incorporated so Lyons could raise funds from the public to buy out Walmsley (and expand). The lead of SS Cars may explain better. Does all that make sense? Cheers, Eddaido (talk) 09:14, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
I see where you are coming from. Would you leave the foundation year of Jaguar Cars as 1922, or change that to the date the new company was founded - 1945? -- de Facto (talk). 09:20, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Very good point! Sorry about that, have changed it. I've also made some other changes which I think improve accuracy but as always I just might be wrong. S S Cars limited was formed in 1934 not 1945. Eddaido (talk) 02:03, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

WhollyShoesR’Us.com[edit]

A man is a shoemaker/repairer with his workshop in a sunny window in the second best street in town. There is a liftable counter across the doorway. This business was bought by Mr Edward Blow in 1941. Ted’s two sons later work in it with him.

Ted, the owner, dies. The business continues at first owned by 1. Ted’s estate then 2. his widow who remarries and becomes Mrs Leather and then eventually 3. by the sons. Throughout this time the business remained the same business. It did have different owners.

Does this show how a business continues even though its owner may change or just change name. Does this concept make sense? Eddaido (talk) 02:03, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Add JAGUAR E‑PACE to the current models of the company and CONCEPT JAGUAR I‑PACE to the future models. Also the S models are missing and missing as well Jaguar's SPECIAL VEHICLE OPERATIONS(SVO) vehicles XE SV PROJECT 8 and F‑TYPE SVR. Iliasp21 (talk) 15:41, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:08, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Dear Eggishorn thank you for your reply. Below the changes I propose with more details and sources:

In "Current car models" I propose to be added:

JAGUAR E‑PACE The Jaguar E-Pace is the first compact sport utility vehicle (compact SUV) produced by the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) https://www.jaguar.co.uk/jaguar-range/e-pace/index.html. It was officially revealed on 13 July 2017.https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/jaguar-e-pace

SPECIAL VEHICLE OPERATIONS (SVO) Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) offers halo models, limited run collectors’ editions and high specification vehicles. Every car showcases the best of Jaguar with stunning performance, unsurpassed luxury and cutting‑edge technology. https://www.jaguar.co.uk/about-jaguar/special-vehicle-operations/index.html. Currently there are two models: XE SV PROJECT 8 and F‑TYPE SVR. Especially, the XE SV PROJECT 8 has 600PS from a 5.0 litre Supercharged V8 engine, Project 8 is the most powerful road legal Jaguar in history. Total production will be strictly limited to 300 cars worldwide, each one hand-assembled at the SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire, England. https://www.jaguar.co.uk/about-jaguar/special-vehicle-operations/project-8.html

in "Future models" I propose the following addition:

I‑PACE CONCEPT The Jaguar I-PACE is a battery-electric SUV car due to be produced by English automotive company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) under their Jaguar marque, and expected to be on the road by the second half of 2018.Jaguar_I-Pacehttps://www.jaguar.co.uk/jaguar-range/i-pace-concept-car/index.html

Categories[edit]

As with the Land Rover article, I've tried to rationalise the categories applied to the article. Because this company no longer trades as a car producer (that role has been transferred to Jaguar Land Rover), I moved all the categories used for car producing companies to Category:Jaguar Cars (this article is in that category, so it still inherits all of those categories) and kept only the categories applicable to a car brand (which this article is now about). Please discuss if you disagree with this approach, as I am not completely confident that my reasoning is sound! -- DeFacto (talk). 23:06, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Brand ownership[edit]

As with the Land Rover article, I've tried to align the brand ownership content (prose and infobox) with what I have been able to glean from the UK trademark registry. The records are not complete, so some interpolation might have crept in, but that website is surely the most reliable source available for this information. Any ideas about how this information might be improved upon and made more accurate or reflective of the reality would be appreciated. -- DeFacto (talk). 23:12, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Jaguar Nicknames[edit]

Should include a list of common nicknames, ie: Jag, Jizzy, ect — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.121.170.61 (talk) 21:36, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
